Hi! My name is Toni and I always wanted to be a writer. While studying film and Screenwriting at Sheffield Hallam University, I fell in love with writing about cinema and branched out into writing film reviews and essays for various publications after starting on Blogger. Most recently, I have been writing on Medium and was a staff writer for Screen Queens, covering both film and television, with a focus on horror and female-led media, until the website closed in April 2024. I needed a new home and decided to create my own, so welcome to Cineberry, which I launched on 19th July, 2024.
My other bylines include Film Daze, WhatCulture, and JumpCut Online, to name a few, and I have covered horror-focused film festivals such as GrimmFest, Fright Fest, and Fantasia. I’ve been entrusted with screeners from Netflix, Disney, Prime Video, NEON, BBC America, and more. I also appear in the coffee table book “Alternative Film Posters A-Z” by Jeremy Arblaster, providing the blurbs for the films Annihilation and Hereditary, which are accompanied by alternative poster designs by talented graphic designers.
In May 2024, I started a Substack newsletter titled “Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown,” after the 1988 Pedro Almodóvar film, which features essays from the intersection of mental health, personal experiences, and psychiatry, in addition to a monthly roundup of what I’ve been reading. All my posts are currently free and I only write there when I have something I want to share, so expect some inconsistency, but do subscribe if you’re interested as it really helps. ♡
